My Name is Nicole and I’ve been running all of my adult life. I’m a self-trained runner/marathoner from Massachusetts. I have worked really, really hard to get where I am now. I always set new and better goals for myself every year: I want to run better, get faster, be more than I am now. I started off running a 6 1/2 hour marathon and have successfully broken 4 hours.
Newest goal: Breaking 3:30.

I came up with the name for my blog because at least once a day-someone completely random says to me “do you run? Because I think I see you running everywhere.” The funniest time was when a random UPS guy delivering a package to me (YES-it was running sneakers) said to me “I drive in Lowell, tyngsboro, dracut, pelham, Hudson…and I see you EVERYWHERE” ……..BAM!!! Not long after-Thegirlwhoraneverywhere was born!!

I have run 16 marathons and half marathons, including 7 Boston Marathons. I have never been fast enough to qualify on my own for Boston: this is my ultimate goal. This is why I run in the 100 degree humidity, why I run through the raindrops and in the frigid New England winters. I KNOW that I can get there someday.
I am truly passionate about running. I’m also a lover of all things fitness related, and love to discuss different running related issues. I started this blog because, really, there is only sooo much run-talk that my family and friends can listen to before I start to see their eyes glazing over.

What else can I tell you about me? Hmmm…
During the day, I am a high school teacher. I teach a financial education class to Juniors and Seniors at a local high school. I love my job and I love helping the youth of America learn smart methods to manage their money.

I have an amazing family. Really, I owe all credit to WHO I am today to my parents. They made me into the strong person I am: their rules, discipline, and life lessons truly paid off. My parents always impressed upon my sister and I that we can do ANYTHING we want. Who knew that I would wind up being an athlete? so,THANK YOU Mom and Dad! Because of you- I am now a die hard accomplished, charity fundraising, competitive running athlete 🙂

I ADORE: country music..country concerts…country festivals…wine..fun with friends, summertime, sunshine, long runs, and my cowboy boots(ummmm -just a lil FYI- I wear them EVERYWHERE) …I’m kind of obsessed actually…

On August 11, 2012, I married the Love of my Life, Greg. He is the ying to my yang. I feel so lucky to have found someone who I not only LOVE but I actually LIKE too. He jokes that “if running was a person, you would marry it” (( NO WAY. Well MAYBE, HAHA))
But for realz-ies: I have truly become a better runner since I met this man. Before him, I didn’t eat meat/enough protein/get the right nutrients so he helps me with all of that and always throws his two cents in about whatever running topic I am yammering on about. PLUS: when I come home from running, he ALWAYS asks me how it went. It’s just a little thing but I just love it! I am a lucky, lucky lady.

Honestly. He is just so handsome!
I also have an adorable stepdaughter who lives with us part time. How cute is she? For real, I can’t even stand it! She is going to be taller than me in like A WEEK!! (and YES we are in matching dresses—Her idea!)
I have some of the BEST friends and family in the world. They ALWAYS support my running goals and dreams. My girls come to every Boston Marathon finish line dressed in matching t shirts with my picture on it. They are hilarious, and every experience we have had together is a laugh a minute.
This picture was taken at the 2011 Boston Marathon finish line. Please note the awesome shirts! (although you can’t see them upclose-they say ‘Cole’s Mara-THONG-ers) Love these girls!
And just because it wouldn’t be complete without a few pictures of my BFF’s in their Bridesmaid beauty:
Thanks SO MUCH for taking the time to read my Blog! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it! And hey, if you don’t- that fine too! Thanks for stoppin on by!

  1. Nicole! Loving your blog – so inspiring! You mention you have run 7 Boston Marathons but you didn’t qualify…can you register for this race without qualifying? (Newly researching marathons over here…) Thanks!

      • What a great way to be able to participate! I see on your “gear” page you have a few different runners in your artillery, so the Ghosts you wear for your Marathons? Any other shoe(s) you would recommend? Currently I run wearing K-Swiss California R’s or Asics GT 2000’s. Also, how long do you train for your Marathons? I have run a few 10k’s and one 1/2 Marathon, and am goal-setting for 2015 and beyond to see if I could build up to a Marathon. Lots of questions!

      • Thank you. I typically wear Ghosts for my marathons, but I plan on wearing lighter shoes this time around. I typically wear Brooks Pureflows for 75% of my runs. I typically train for 16-18 weeks before I race a marathon:) 10ks and a half is awesome!!:) what marathon are you thinking of running?

      • Thanks 🙂 Will have to look into the Brooks! I am going to do another 1/2 marathon in November called the Vancouver Historic Half (I live outside of Vancouver, Canada), not sure which Marathon would be my first – there are plenty to choose from here, some big some small. Thinking do a few half marathons to become more accustomed to the distance.

  4. Hi, I love your blog. I just stumbled upon it via Paleorunningmama and the first thing I noticed was how look-alike we are (not the face – the body – BTW, how tall are you?).
Then I noticed we have very similar PRs and racing times.
I started following running blogs as a motivation for preparing my upcoming Florence Marathon. Florence, like Firenze, because I’m Italian.
Other similarities? Teaching (I teach EFL), running everywhere, loving kids.

Pardon if I’ll stalk you. Have a good run!

    • Thanks so much and welcome aboard!;) I’m 5’1″ …a shortie compared to my big husband!
I’ve never done a marathon anywhere besides the US, I’ve always wanted to! Best of luck in your training! Haha, and stalk away!

  5. Ahhhhh! I am so happy to have come across your blog! You are sooo cool 😀 LOL! Really 🙂 Not only that we share passion for fitness, I also work at a bank. Every single day I try to teach people of all ages how to manage their money. As a little girl, I always thought that when you’re a grown up, you know everything… Little did I know haha! So I really respect what you do as your work. Our world needs it more than ever. I am looking forward to getting to know you better! xoxo Olena

    • That’s so cool and we are meant to be friends!! It’s amazing what kids aren’t necessarily taught nowadays- and even when I was a kid, it didn’t necessarily mean I knew 100% either!
I’m so glad you found me and I look forward to getting to know you too!:)

  7. Nicole! I just found your blog and already love it! I’m in Pennsylvania now but grew up in Massachusetts and also ran the 2013 Boston Marathon. I can’t believe you were right there when it happened. I can’t imagine what that was like. I’ll be running the 2014 marathon too. I’m happy to see you’re doing it. I don’t think there is any better way to show support for Boston and to show how resilient and awesome runners are.

Also, it’s amazing how much you decreased your marathon time by! Inspirational! I’m sure you’ll get that sub 3:30 🙂

    • You are the sweetest! Thank you SO MUCH!!:) I love blogging! I just started a couple months ago but I’m having a ton of fun!
It was definitely very difficult being RIGHT THERE, And still is. I love hearing that others are swearing they going back next year as well- it makes me so happy! And you are right – we ARE resilient and awesome!:)
