Recap Part 1. LIFE

Wow, this being a FT mom stuff is TOUGH and time consuming (How do all of you full time mommy/runner’s do it all?? Mommies, give me the tips. I need them!  I am learning so much! And being full time in the mom department leaves little time for blogging!

August has been INSANE. I don’t think I’ve ever had a busier month than August 2015.  Last I left you, I think it was Aly’s 2nd week here. I’ve wanted to blog over the past couple of weeks but I haven’t had any time! This now leaves me feeling like I want to photo/info dump all of these LIFE HAPPENINGS on you! In August–>I have run TWO races (a 5k and a half marathon), run a whole lot, had a 3 year anniversary, started a running streak, had a lot of fun, became a FT Smom and CAT MOM, and went on vacation. This little thing we call LIFE has been adventurous and busy and all the best kinds of things lately! I think I’ll break it up into a few different posts for you!

Last week was family vacation! We took a road trip to St. Albans, Maine. We rented a gigantic house – My in laws, my brother/sister in law and all our children! It was a BLAST. This house was gorgeous, huge, and right on the water. We had so many awesome things to do! There was a pontoon boat, tubes, kayak’s, a canoe, pool table, and three bathrooms. . I realize that putting “three bathrooms” next to “pool table” on the list of  “awesome things to do” is weird—> But when you’re staying in a house with 9 people, having 3 bathrooms actually IS an AMAZING thing.

Anyway.

We had a great trip! We basically lived in the lake for an entire week and it was fantastic!

A few photos for you!

This was my favorite sunset, and ironically-the only one that was picture-worthy. It was our very first night!

Me and my gals πŸ™‚

I love the silhouette style of this picture!

And one with the Pontoon! πŸ™‚

As far as the running goes (because this IS a running blog, right?!?): I have done a LOT of that! Tomorrow’s post will be a mileage recap of my last two weeks of running…105.6 miles total! One huge week and one cut back (ish) week!

This is the LAST WEEK of summer vacation….WAHHHHHHHHHHH Me and my little are starting back to school next week! I can’t even believe it’s already over!!
Who else goes back to school next week?

  1. A week at the lake sounds like the perfect vacation. Glad you had fun. And kudos for you keeping the mileage high while on vacation. That’s something I haven’t learned to do yet.

    • I just tried to think of it as something I “had” to do. I got it done first thing when I woke up-that way i had zero excuses and couldn’t make up reasons not to do it!! You can do it too, believe me! Our vaca was really relaxed and we didn’t have anything we “had” to do (like a disney vaca where you’re waiting for rides/parks to open) so it was pretty easy for me to keep up with πŸ™‚

  2. It ain’t easy having kids and running- I get up at 4:45 to make it work (sometimes even earlier if we are talking a 20 miler…) you adjust. You are setting a great example for her by running, I bet she will start to join you in no time at all!

    • I really am seeing some 4 am wakeups in my not-so-distant future. You are a rockstar for your early times…I’m doing the math in my head now for how early I’m going to have to wake up!!! Oh My. OOOH MY.
She is a natural with running. Long, long legs and a natural ability!! I’m hoping I have a future running buddy on my hands!! πŸ™‚

  3. LOL on the “how do FT mom/runners do it”! Wake up really early πŸ™‚ Seriously, any time that I have to run and my kids are awake I feel guilty, so I’m running while they sleep. Unfortunately now that school is back in session I have to get up even earlier. Oh well, so much for beauty sleep.
Your vacation looks awesome! It looks so fun. I can totally relate on the bathrooms. Even with our family of 4 I think 2 bathrooms are a must! I totally want a selfie stick too. My husband laughs about that, but he’ll see – great family pictures without my arm in them.

    • My husband bought it for me because he was so sick of my lame finger in the camera selfies!! LOL!!!
You are AMAZING for being able to multi task. I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m going to be pulling a leaf out of your book with those god awful wake up times! WAHHH! BUT, if you WANT IT, then you will get up early. And maybe still complain…right???!?!
In my “real house” we only have one bathroom! It’s awful!!!

  4. I have been stalking you with reckless abandon on IG. I’m so happy for you–you were meant to be a mommy. And in answer to your question, I have NO CLUE how FT mom-runners do it. NO CLUE

  5. I can’t believe school is about to start back up! Where did summer go? Although I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a tiny bit excited for fall though – perfect running weather πŸ™‚

  6. woohoo you have been one busy lady with all sorts of fun stuff going on! vacation looks/sounds amazing! and those are some big numbers of running! i cannot believe it is the end of august already; wah wah 😦 still going strong with heading to the cape every weekend and i am taking some vacation days in the next 2 days, hurray!

  7. Rule #1 should always be – never let blogging get in the way of life. And you certainly haven’t – I have loved all of the incredible pics you’ve been sharing! Keep up the great living and running and being awesome with your family and friends! πŸ™‚
