Ready or not…here comes Boston!

Well, here we are..1 week out from Marathon Monday! I’m so ready to go. Every day I wake up and first do the countdown in my head of how many days are left, and next I check the weather! Actually, I stalk the weather. Don’t think I only check it once…I check it several hundred times throughout the day.. It’s a problem.

But anyway.. Lets talk some comparisons. I’m the biggest stats junkie. I love plopping down, post run, and immediately checking my Garmin to review all of my splits. And then, later on, I like to compare previous runs to newly completed runs. I have always believed that you shouldn’t compare yourself to another runner. No good can come of it. However. I also believe in comparing myself to…well, myself. I like to see how far I’ve come in marathon training cycles, or even to compare the progress I’ve made from one Boston Marathon training to another. Below is a screenshot I took from two of my long training runs from last year. (I believe that I came home after the 18 mile run and rounded up to 20 on the treadmill)

This is a little collage I made after my last long run during Boston training…

Now THAT is what I call progress, friends! One year, and I feel like a completely different runner.

Saturday, I ran my last double digit run before 4/20. I wanted to crush every mile and go so much faster, but, I held back because I know it will lead to a better marathon day for me!

I was so happy with this run AND i wore a SKIRT. OUTSIDE. TO RUN IN. AND I WASNT COLD—> If you think I was shouting while writing that sentence, then you are correct. I’m so happy to be back in shorts!

In non running news...Friday night was date night. We bid adieu to the Fast & Furious franchise at Chunky’s. The movie was pretty good (Per usual- you can expect lots of unbelievable stunts & cars that were doing some unbelievable things) and I cried like a weevbabe at the end. RIP Paul Walker!  Chunky’s really is, in my opinion, the best place to see a movie. You can order drinks and food….WIN WIN!

And two little miracles happened this weekend. #1: I did my hair & makeup…and wore real people clothes TWO DAYS in a ROW. Mmmm-Hmmm. Selfies to prove it because THAT is a rarity!

And #2: I realized that i STILL HAVE ALL 10 TOENAILS….I don’t think this has ever happened. None of them are in pain, none of them are close to leaving me…I would call that a win-win for marathon training!

See you soon….

Do you lose a lot of toenails from running? Its so gross, I can’t believe I’m even asking this question!

Any movie theater’s near you serve food/beverages while watching the show?

  1. Maybe this has been asked already so I apologize if it’s redundant but are you going to post your bib # so we can text follow you?

  2. 1 week! 1 week!!! So exciting! I’m starting to get packed. Don’t want to forget anything.
I typically lose the toenails on the toes next to my big toes. Those poor toenails are only half grown in, but they will probably still be goners after Boston!

  3. It’s amazing how much progress you’ve been able to make in a year. I hope the weather cooperates for you and everyone else running Boston next week!

  4. I’m excited for you! I ran 10 Boston’s consecutively, the last being 2012, so I still get all excited this time of year….and I lost two toenails every year after the marathon – the same two toenails – I swear it was going down all those hills in Newton….Hoping the weather holds out and you get a new PR for Boston!!!

  5. AH 1 week to go! fingers crossed that the weather next monday will be just as great as the weather we are having now! woot woot!!!!

  6. You’ve put the hay in the barn Nicole now it’s time to reap the fruits of your labor and you are sooooo ready I KNOW IT!!! You’re going to do amazing!!! And Boston training and you still have all your toenails haha! … hmmmm … what kinda smoke and mirrors are you pulling ha! lol 😉

  7. Love that last pic!

Your training has been amazing this cycle, and I seriously can’t believe how far you’ve come as a runner- so inspiring! I believe in only comparing yourself to yourself, too 🙂

For the sake of your sanity, I hope the weather doesn’t waiver too much for ya!

  8. You miiiiight have improved, haha.Maybe 😀 I love movie theaters that also serve food. Though Chunky’s might be the worst name ever. I can’t believe Boston is 1 week away! SO FREAKING EXCITING!
