Christmas was amazing. The family parties this weekend were amazing. But the most amazing part is that from Christmas through now? I did not take even one picture (besides one Garmin selfie…does that count?)
But I’m soooooo glad it’s over. Christmas is a time to celebrate with your family& loved ones, and while that was really fun-it took a lot out of me this year, and I’m ready to get back to life as usual.
I did a whole bunch of running this week, and I’m really happy about that! Even though it was CRAZY busy, I managed to get my butt outside for all but ONE of my runs!! Running outside =happy Nicole! The weather was SO awesome/weird this week: on Christmas DAY I ran in SHORTS. WHAAAT??? I wish I took a picture, but alas, I was trying to live more “in the moment” instead of on my phone …so mission accomplished!!
Tuesday: 8 miles @ 7:41 avg pace.
I love that I have a running journal now…I re-read my journal and I described my run as “I just wasnt that into you”…sometimes I make me laugh at me 😉. All treadmill runs are not created equally, and this one was mentally tough.
Wednesday: 8.67 tempo miles outside.
Christmas run! 6.51..7:39 avg pace
Saturday: 20 lovely Miles outside. (you might have seen this picture already because I posted it on both my IG & my Facebook.)
A 2:40 long run is something I’ve been trying to break since the summertime. Keeping my long runs faster really helps me during a marathon. I’m training my legs to be consistent in hitting those same paces every mile while also exerting the same effort. It’s tough, but I know the hard work pays off! I feel like I get closer and closer each week. And, I’ve noticed that week-holding those paces is a little bit easier than the week before. Two weekends ago, I felt sluggish and slow with a 2:51 20 miler. Last week, I felt slightly better and “the run” felt more natural to me and I hit a 2:47. This week, with a 2:42, my legs felt really good for most of my run, and there were miles that I knew I could have gone faster. I’m really excited for my next marathon on Feb 22!!
(the stats were too long to fit on one screen shot so i had to take two!)
Sunday-7 miles recovery @ 8:19 pace.
I think the recovery run is also one of my favorite runs lately. The first mile is spent adjusting to the aches of using my muscles again, but by mile 2, i usually have worked out all those kinks and I”m ready to go. This run was really hilly and ended up being a progression run the 2nd half which is kind of cool.
Mileage totals for the week: 50.2, avg pace 7:59
I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays still…and the end of 2014!
What was your favorite run of the week?
