Running with friends, a vday cocktail & Snow. Again.

On Tuesday I did something that I have never done before. Three guesses as to what it was. Come on..give it your best shot..

I went running with a friend!’s true. Although I’ve been a runner for many many years, I’ve never gone running with a friend! (for all of you jokesters out there wondering –> yes, I have friends besides this one, none of the others run.)

Here are some things I learned about running with a friend:
-You will chat a lot which makes the time fly right on by!
-When you plan to run with a friend it is a great motivator. I rushed to get ready for running. Some days, I end up eating candy procrastinating for hours.
-It is way more fun to run with someone else than by yourself!

We had a great run, about 8.50 miles together in about 1:14, I ended up doing 9 1/2 altogether running from my house to her house and back.

Yesterday I went running (solo, wahhh) and even though it was SO COLD outside I made myself hit the streets because today it is SNOWING.

Anyways.. it’s treadmill time today. Probably 9 maybe 10 miles? Normally I would do 13 miles mid week, but I am really trying to stick to my tapering plan, so just 9-10 it is.

Last night I did some planning for an awesome Friday night valentines dinner menu…Shrimp Fra Diavolo over angel hair pasta and chocolate raspberry Martinis.

Chocolate Rasberry Martini Recipe
-Three Olives Chocolate Vodka
-Smirnoff Vodka
-Dekuyper Razzmatazz Schnapps (you can use chambord, too but I went with the knock off brand!)
-light cranberry juice
-frozen or fresh raspberries for garnish (not necessary, I happened to have some in the freezer)

2 parts chocolate vodka, 1 part Smirnoff, 1 part Razzmatazz, 1 part cranberry juice. Shake vigorously over ice. Serve in a chilled glass. Makes two servings.

It’s treadmill time… I think this snow day picture pretty much sums up my day so far:

(must step AWAY from candy)

What’s the weather like where you are?
-Snowing steadily

Who worked out today? Inside or outside? How do you handle the snow?

Have any vday plans? I wanna hear all about it!

Run Free, Run Strong!

  1. That sounds like fun! I don’t have any friends who run either so I understand.

You know where I am by now. You know our weather sucks too. Booooo!

I did 3.5 on the treadmill this morning. Our neighborhood and surrounding area doesn’t have sidewalks and with all this built up snow I don’t feel safe. And our bike paths are never plowed or anything so they’re useless.

  2. I grew up in the Boston area and lived there 42 years until the economy tanked and we wound up out in Corning NY. We lived for more than 13 years in Townsend (I worked in Marborough) … and don’t miss that epic level of snow! Though it is colder here.

So our weather? Snowing – we’re only supposed to get a few inches out here, and fortunately the temps are up. My run today was +15, after -15 yesterday and -10 on Tuesday! No big plans for us – many years since we did elaborate stuff, just fun romantic time together. Our older son (17) is cooking dinner for his girlfriend, though … that should be fun.

    Enjoy your vday!
