My apologies yet again for being MIA this weekend-I have been in a funk and not feeling well. Absence makes the heart grow fonder though, right?!?
Skipping the Long Run..
Sometimes, you will have days/weekends when you will find that the long run just isn’t for you. That was me this weekend. No matter how hard I tried to, I couldn’t do it. I was sidelined with an awful stomach ache that just will (still) not leave, no matter what I did(do). I procrastinated all morning on Saturday, and when it became clear that I wouldn’t be doing a long run, I ended up running 10 on my treadmill. Sidenote:I really dislike NOT running my long run on Saturday.
I thought by skipping it until Sunday, I surely would wake up with pep in step & raring to go.
Sunday dawned with just as much exhaustion and belly aches as Saturday. UGHHHHHH….. I pushed myself out the door anyway. I knew immediately going into it that it, in fact, would NOT be a long run like I had planned.
Total miles run: 13.50..
Honestly, everybody has bad days. I am human…not a robot. And truthfully, I actually didn’t need to run a 20 this weekend.
My training for Hyannis is done:
I have logged the miles, done my Yasso’s, sprints, and tempos. For the past five weeks, I have done a 20+ mile run every single Saturday:
I am ready.
A bad weekend will NOT derail me. Sometimes, sh*t just happens.
Anyways, I did have a wonderful weekend with my family and got to see this beauty saturday night:
Monday-strength workout, no running
Tuesday-9 miles, 1 hour
Wednesday-13 miles 1 hr 39 minutes
Thursday-nada. Zilch. Nothing
Friday-8 miles 1 hour 2 minutes
Saturday-10 miles-1 hr 15 minutes
With less than two weeks to go, I am entering “tapering” mode…. I will be back later with a description of what tapering is and how I can manage to do that while still keeping my fitness for Boston!
