Until next time, vacation, and weekly mileage recap

Tomorrow is back to life, back to reality…after 14 beautiful days off I can honestly say I’m ready to rejoin the workforce. Bring it on.

I had dinner with my friends last night. My BFF had never had salmon before so I took the opportunity to introduce it to her life. It was goooood. ๐Ÿ™‚

Today was supposed to be my long run day. Well, to be truthful…yesterday was, but there was still WAY too much snow stuck to the roads, and temps wherein the low teens with a wind chill…brrrrrrrr….Today’s weather felt balmy in the mid-30’s so, in my planning, I thought hey why not wait until Sunday?

But it turns out that I do not like to do long runs on Sundays. I do not like them one bit. Saturdays are for long runs and Sundays are tempo recovery (yes, that is a strange term…I know.) After a nice long run on Saturday, I really like pushing myself to be faster on Sundays. I don’t know why, it just happens. Some things just work well together-like peanut butter and apples. My claim to fame combo is long run saturday and tempo Sunday. #iknowimcrazy

I just didn’t want to do it. This morning, I had already run 46 miles for the week..that could have a little something to do with it. I’m not entirely convinced that was what it was-the roads were still not very well paved and it felt like I was running through sand on the beach. It was going to take me over three hours to do my run..yucky… I literally couldn’t get any faster than 9 minutes for my miles. I shortened it and did 10 instead of the 20 miles I had originally planned.

I normally do not encourage that behavior. I don’t care how tired I am, or how much I DONT want to, I make myself do the long run. But today I couldn’t wrap my head around it. I know I really have to buckle down because entire are LESS than two months until my next full marathon. I literally cannot put it off and next Saturday it is ON.

Weekly recap:
Monday-10 miles (I actually don’t remember what kind of run I was aiming for-it was an 8:45 average pace)
Tuesday-13 miles, easy
Wednesday-7 miles-intervals
Thursday-off
Friday-9 miles (tempo) total, 7 miles of a 7:20 pace
Saturday-7 (easy-7:56 average)
Sunday-10 miles-easy

56 miles total.

My only accomplishment from my run today is that I took a pretty picture along the lake I run near. The sky just looked way too pretty to pass up the opportunity:

I actually am easing my back into running again as of yesterday and it felt AWESOME. I just did 5 running, 5 walking for now to see how my hip and IT band will handle it. Been a long time since I felt so good leaving the gym on a cardio day! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today is so nice out there already. I hope it melts lots of the snow so you can get your schedule back on track! ๐Ÿ™‚
