New sneaker day!!!! I absolutely cannot WAIT to get home and try out my new sneakers!! And although it’s snowing out as we speak- I have a feeling I’m STILL going to be outside running… It just feels more bad ass. And it’s practically a sin to try out new
Shoes on a treadmill don’t you agree?
…actually NOT new sneaker day…wahhh!!! I Came home all giddy (obviously I started this post earlier today) with new shoe excitement only to discover that my shoes weren’t here. The visions of me flying over the roads have been out on hold. Shipment was rescheduled due to the Veterans Day holiday. Oh well, tomorrow’s another’s day! Even UPS deserves a well earned holiday off with pay!
Since I’m STREAKING(it’s day two) of course I’m still going to run. It’s freezing cold man so I’m going to do some sprints on the ‘mill…yes, I will die a little inside. But not as much as my lungs will die outside! I kid, I kid…truth is I am just a big old baby. If the new kicks were here- I totally would force myself out the door. Now I have an excuse, I guess!!:)
Where are you most “at home”?
A True Moment of Clarity washed over me yesterday. I was out running when this very provoking thought struck me: When I’m running- I feel truly “at home”: I’m “home” in my environment, whether it be nature or on the roads, and also at “home” within my own body. There is something about the motions of running that make me feel relaxed and at peace. It’s a little bit ironic considering that the activity of running is such a high energy sport. But I guess that’s the magic of it…the fact that the old familiar motions can truly resonate within my soul. My whole being hums with the freedom granted from a run.
The feeling I’m describing-it’s different than a “runner’s high”. It’s the kind of tranquility that comes with the knowledge that you’re doing something you love, something familiar- like coffee with a best friend or visiting your nana for her homemade chocolate chip cookies.
It’s a peace that washes over me as my legs are charging full speed ahead. My heart is pumping away and it’s throbbing beat is drumming away saying:
Does anybody else feel that way during a run, or during any other activity?
Please tell me about it!
I hope you all are having a beautiful day!
