Rainy day runs are good for the soul!

imageI woke up really excited to run today, and I think it’s because of the weather. I LOVE the summertime. The amount of daylight is twice as long as it is in the wintertime and the time of day that you can go running is practically limitless. Our New England summers can be particularly scorching-but today-it’s raining out. I don’t know about you, but there is nothing more that I love than a warm summer rain to run in. It just feels like it bring me back to nature while cleansing the soul. Does that make sense?

Today I plan to run 13 miles. I’m about 9 1/2 weeks out from the Baystate Marathon on October 20th. When I’m in my “beast mode” aka-training for a marathon-I do one “sort of long” run (I consider this to be between 10-13 miles) and one LONG run (17-20 miles) weekly. My mileage adds up to be about 60 miles a week. I always take one day a week off, and I lift weights twice a week. It sounds like a lot but it goes by fairly quickly for me!

I’m going to set a PR for myself at the Baystate Marathon. I’ve been working really hard. Last week, I ran 18.50 miles in 2 hours and 36 minutes. This was my fastest long run to date and I’m feeling really confident in my running!

I’m always looking for new inspirations to fuel me. Today, my inspiration comes from one of my close friends- I call her SuperMom. She is currently going through tough times yet her spirit is indomitable. Supermom has recently set fitness goals for herself that I KNOW she will achieve. Her positivity is contagious, and she is encouraging me to have the BEST run today!

That’s all for now…thanks for reading and as always, happy running!

Run free, run strong!
